Between each inferior cornu of the thyroid and adjoining side of thecricoid is a distinct joint with a capsular ligament lined with synovialmembrane. The axis of this joint passes transversely, so that the move-ment is practically one of pure rotation, though there may be a slightgliding forward and backward.
