The mainland of the Reservation is always open. The Islandsare open from 6 A. M. until sundown between May 1st and Oc-tober 1st, and from 8 A. M. until sundown betweeen October 1stand May 1st. Permission to visit the Islands when not open to the public,and in order to see the. Falls by moonlight, may be obtained fromthe Superintendent at the Administration Building. The morning is the best time to get the rainbow effects ofthe American Fall. There are no charges made for any other services by theReservation authorities, but concessionaries charge for carnageservice, the trip on the Maid of the Mist, and attendant atthe Oave of the Administration Building. The State Reservation at Niagara contains about 412 of which are imder water. It compiises a strip on the main-land extending from a point near the steel arch bridge below the Palls. Up the. river 1 ^A miles to Port Day, which is at the intakeof the Schoellkopf Canal, together with some fifteen islands yingbetween the mainland and Horseshoe Fall, through the apex ofwhich runs the boundary line between the United State-s and theDominion of Canada. There is no trolley service through the Park or Islands, butautomobiles and carriages are there to serve the pul^lic.
