Randa, Valais, Swiss Alps, Switzerland. 5 August 2017. The longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world mastered the first serious test this weekend after the opening on 29 July 2017. Hundreds of visitors tackled the 2-hour hike from Randa, a small mountain village in the Swiss Alps, to the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge at about 2000 meters The structure, which is just 65 centimetres wide, stretches 494 metres long at more than 80 meters above the ground. The bridge connects Grächen and Zermatt on the Europaweg foot trail, offers stunning views of the dominating Weisshorn and other peaks and cuts a journey that previously took hikers four hours to 10 minutes.
