The Jarvis Literary Society estab-lished in 1909, for young men; the Edgar Allan Pee and theLanier Societies, established, 1910, for young women, havedone much toward unifying the student body and encourag-ing school spirit. The chief purposes of these societies areto encourage social intercourse among the students, to putinto practice the;>kMHvTexl^e^ in the class rooms,through oral and written discussions, and to attain pro-ficiency in parliamentary usage.
