Rock-cut basin & footprint on an upper terrace of Dunadd Dark Age fortress, Kilmartin Valley, used for inauguration rituals of Scots kings. Capital of Dalriada (Dál Riata), the Kingdom of the Scots (colonists from Ireland) established c 500AD. The rock, protected by a glass-fibre replica, also bears Ogam (Ogham) marks & a Pictish-style boar. Dunadd was besieged & captured in 736 by Fergus, King of the Picts. View looking NNE.
