JARUSALEM, LA PAZ, EL SALVADOR, MAY 1986: At the town of Jarusalem, La Paz the army distributes barrels of clothes donated from the US. The embaressed troops find many of the barrels contain useless items such as dress shoes as here. As part of a US-inspired 'Hearts and Minds' campaign, the Salvdoran army is running a 'Civil-Military' programme in areas that border zones of conflict. Clothes are given away, teeth pulled out, and men are exhorted to join the civil defense.
