Slit tanas-eh-ko-le down theback. Do not cut him crossways. South Wind pretended not to hear. South Windcut the whale across the back. Suddenly the fishchanged into an immense bird. The birds wingsdarkened the sun. The flapping of its wings shookthe earth. This bird was the Thunder Bird. Heflew to the north and lighted on Swal-al-a-host, nearthe mouth of Great River.
