Mr. Thompson is a man of interestingexperience and attainments. He was bornFebruary 22, 1878, in Smiths Valley inJohnson County, Indiana. His paternalgrandfather, a native of Virginia, camewest about 1820 and was a pioneer in Mor-gan County, Indiana, where he cleared upland and followed the vocation of farm-ing during his active life, and when thework of the week was done he spent mostof his Sundays and other days besides inspreading the Gospel as a local preacherof the Methodist faith. He died about thetime of the Civil war.
