Designed to salvage stranded vessels, rescue and assistance, recovery of submerged objects and manned diving operations, USS Salvor was commissioned June 14, 1986 and first arrived in Pearl Harbor Nov. 1 that same year. Most recently, Salvor returned from a scheduled five-month deployment to Southeast Asia in support of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Exercise 2006.
