Their limbsare cased in undressed skin leggings, and their heads are covered with broadhats, entwined with silver braids. Each man bows courteously, and all canterbriskly down to the stream. Mounting once more to our perches, beside the driver, artist and writer alikeare inspired by the beauty of the long stretch of dark highway, bordered andcovered with huge live oaks, or with the wayward mesquite, whose branches area perpetual danger to the heads of outside passengers.
