Stone marking the burial place of Gunnister Man at Gunnister in Northmavine, Shetland. DETAILS IN DESCRIPTION.

In May 1951 two men digging peat in Gunnister, Shetland, found the remains of a man. There were some fragments of bone and hair, but his clothing and some personal items were well preserved. From this evidence it is thought the body dates from the late 17th or early 18th century. The stone marking the location was placed by the Northmavine History Group.
