Illinois has tightly tied it up with a single species of host plant, or several very closely related host plants, that aphid obviously exists only where its host is present. Many examples of the primary factor of host distribution governing the distribution of nic)n()])hagnus plant lice in Illinois could be cited (Figs. ]()-1.'i). There is ample evidence to show that the {)hysiological constitution of an a])hid has limits, secondary to the ])resence of host plant nr host plants, which regulate the outlines of a full and com])lete picture of.
