What precipitated their resolve to have a camp meeting as well as pray for one, wasa visit of Lorenzo Dow to the neighbourhood. We have not time to write Dows strange biography, or to describe what hadbeen the influence of his occasional visits tothis part of the country—where his fore-fathers had lived—in fanning the revivalisticflame; nor shall we attempt a sketch of thepersonal appearance and dress of the man,wdiich may best be judged of by the aid ofthe engraver.
