Commander of Coast Guard Liberation Flotilla. Coast Guard Lieutenant Charles M. Brookfield, of 2767 Kaxson Street, Cocoanut Grove, Miami, Florida, was in command of a group of Tank Landing Ships which participated in the smashing cross-channel offensive which fixed a deep Allied beachhead in French Normandy. Thousands of fighting ships swept across the channel before dawn. Lieutenant Brookfield was recently appointed temporary group commander of the LSTs, one of which he skipped during the last year.
