The most wonderful thing about the whole recordwas the absolute success of the new single-phase motor. FREIGHT LOCOMOTIVES 1909-1911. Three locomotives are being tried out in freight service. These differfrom the 41 passenger locomotives in that the motors are mounted aboveand either geared or crank and side-rod connected to the driving axles,instead of being flexibly mounted on the driver axles.
