Timber framed houses in Walter Way Lewisham built on the Walter Segal self build method.

In the 1970s Lewisham Council owned a number of vacant sites which because of their size, condition etc were unsuitable for housing development by the council. A plan was put forward by the council's Architectural Department to offer these sites to people on the housing waiting list for the construction of self-build houses using the timber-framed construction methods devised by Walter Segal. Phase One (Segal Close) started in 1979 and Phase Two (Walters Way) in 1984.
