Heilige Geist Kirche, Holy Spirit Church Exterior, Perleberger Str. 36, Moabit-Mitte, Berlin, Germany. Neo-Gothic Style building built in 1905-1906


The hexagonal neo-Gothic masonry building has facade of red Rathenow bricks, It has three portals and the interior has high columns with acanthus capitals that support a six-part star vault. The vestibule was originally also equipped with a star vault. The 78 meter high six-sided steeple flanked by two stair towers and contains the bells and the electric tower clock . The Church of the Holy Spirit originally had three bronze bells but these were melted down during the Second World War. The Church sustained little damage during the WWll and only the stained glass windows had to be replaced. In 1954, the church received three cast steel bells , which came from the Melanchthon Church on Planufer in Berlin-Kreuzberg that was completely destroyed in 1944 and never rebuilt.
