Wounded Leave Makin. Off Makin a Coast Guard manned landing barge, carrying soldiers wounded in the invasion, heads for a Navy plane that will fly the men to a hospital base in safer territory. Some of the wounded men can be seen in the stern of the boat. A first aid station is located aboard the Coast Guard manned combat transport, operating as a unit in the Navy task force.
