Mr. Olsson had s~l»me good Golden Glow mums and had a ready sale for all he could cut. The Hoyt Bros. Co. is erecting a brick smokestack, which, when completed, will be in the neighborhood of 100 feet high. This extreme height is made necessary by the high hills which al- most surround the range. Adolph Donart has had some espe- cially fine ferns this summer. Among some of the other florists ferns of good quality have been a little scarce. Mr. Donart found an excellent market for 5, 6 and 7-ineh fuchsias, and they were as fine as have ever been seen here. L. B. H. TAOOMA, WASH. The Market. Business is keeping up fairly well, but there is little novelty in the way of stock. Valley is entirely out of the market and lilies are scarce. Local growers have no roses to offer at pres- ent, but from indications there will be a good crop this winter. Designers are handicapped in making up large pieces where lilies come in handy for high effect. Greens ate none too plentiful. Gypsophilas are about over, but gladi- oli are good, with a good demand, Pan- ama being most popular. Asters are plentiful and meet with a good call at from 50 to 75 cents per dozen. Peas are becoming poor and do not keep well. Heavy dews and early morning fogs will soon put them off the market entirely. New industries are starting up in all sections of the city. Shipbuilding plants are popping up like mushrooms. Where a month ago there was nothing but a vast prairie dotted with shrub oaks there now is a city. Various Notes. A. J. Burt, of Spokane,
