Bevagna town, Umbria, Italy. St Francis's Church (1275) stands on a hill under a blue sky; it can be reached by a staircase flanked by flower beds.

Built at the end of the 13th century on the ancient oratory dedicated to San Giovanni Battista, the church stands on the highest place in the city, where it was certainly a Roman temple. The gabled façade is adorned with an elegant round polystyle portal, with foliated marble capitals.
