The Kajartalik Island Light. The Coast Guard radio beacon and lighthouse station on Kajartalik Island, Greenland, overlooks Kungnat Bay and the entrance to the Danish Colony village of Ivigtut, where the cryolite mine is located. The installation at Kajartalik, accomplished under most difficult weather conditions, represents one of the outstanding Coast Guard jobs. The light and beacon served air and surface navigators during the War, as a point of great strategic value.
