Ferguson prepares to lift a magnesium-filled flare as a Marine C-130 cargo aircraft gets ready to make a flare drop over allied positions near Phu Bai during the Vietnam War. Ferguson is responsible for ejecting the flares from the aircraft if enemy fire ignites the magnesium.
