A longer step toward an efficient organization was taken when, onApril 27, 1903, the former Society was abandoned, and the presentPurdue Branch of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers wasestablished. At that time membership to the local branch was limited tostudent members or associate members of the national organization, butat present, membership is extended to all students in the ElectricalSchool. Meetings are held bi-weekly and are varied in nature. Outsidespeakers are obtained whenever possible, moving picture films are shown, and demonstrations with laboratory apparatus are made. This organization has tried to make the Freshmen and Sophomoresfeel at home in the Electrical Building and among the upper classmen. The local branch also acts as a means of getting the Juniors andSeniors in closer contact with the National Institute, and thus preparingthese men to become better fitted for the electrical profession.
