Lewes, UK. Lewes Bonfire Night Celebrations. The annual 5th November celebrations in Lewes, East Sussex, are the biggest bonfire night celebrations in the world. Travel is disrupted due to road closures and Southern Rail strikes, despite expecting a high turnout because this years event falls on a Saturday. Visitors from outside the Lewes area had to queue for some hours for extra bus services. Ahead of Donald Trumps surprise victory in the US Presidential Elections, several Trump effigies were paraded on the night and then burned at the society bonfire sites.
