The hospital depends entirely upon contributions for itssupport. In both hospitals patients are admitted without regard to theirreligious views. Attention was also called to the electric and gas lighting systems ;. Above all, the climate of NewBedford is salubrious and renders it one of the most attractive resi-dence cities in this part of the country. In summer the southwestwinds blowing athwart the bay, fan the heated city to a mostcomfortable degree of temperature. The breeze gains strength atnightfall and the nights are deliciously cool. Nor is the city subjectto extremes of cold, compared with places of the same latitude in theinterior. The temperature of the water in the bay is said to be tendegrees warmer than that within Cape Cod bay.
