Roman base of St. George Tower (right) and Gothic Chapel of St. Mary. (left) built in 1276, and rebuilt between 1431-1434 by order of Mary's Queen, wife of Alfonso V the Magnanimous). There were buried famous prisoners of the Castel as Conde de Urgell (Urgell's Count, 11 Nov 1434), Martin Diez de Aux (1440), Pietro Brunor (16 july 1445), Jaime de Aragón y Arenos (2 Feb 1465), Leonardo de Alagon, marqués de Oristano, Cerdenya (3 Nov 1494) and Hugo Roger III last Conde de Pallars (April 1504). Castle of Xativa (Iberian-Roman origin with most remains of Muslim and Gothic epochs). This City was the born place of the two Borgia Popes (Calixtus III and Alexander VI). La Costera District.
