This genus, which is established for the reception of the fol- lowing two species and for H. striatum, (x) from Madras — a species which I provisionally referred to Himantarium — may be recognised from Himantarium by its very short basal plate, short and mesially depressed maxillary sternite, powerful maxillary claw, incrassate and not attenuate antennae, clawed anal legs etc. H. tyipicum may be taken as the type of the genus. 31. Himantosoma typicixni, sp. n. Syn. Himantarium indicum, Pocock, Journ. Linn. Soc. Zool. XXI, p. 289 pi. XXIV, fig. 3. Not H. indicum, Meinert, Proc. Amer. Phil. Soc XXIII, p. 228. Body robust, attenuate toward its anterior and posterior end. Colour ochraceous above, testaceous beneath, the anterior tergites slightly infoscate. Head fiate sub-quadrate, punctured and hairy. Antennae thick and hairy, incrassate towards the middle of their length, the apical segment ovate aud longer than the segment that precedes it.
