Venice People Mover. This transport system, which opened in April 2010, operates in Venice, Italy. It consists of an elevated rail with three stations, covering a distance of 857 metres from the Piazzale Roma (the main bus station) to the island of Tronchetto via the Marittima (the port). There are two trains, which are fully automated and move on a steel cable. The journey time over the entire route is around three minutes, with four carriages and a total capacity of 200 people for each train. The system is operated by ASM (Azienda Servizi Mobilita), using vehicles from the DCC Doppelmayr Cable Car company. Photographed in 2011.
