An English sabre with folding hilt, circa 1780 Broad, fullered blade with a pronounced protrusion and pandour point, the lower half elaborately cut, etched, blued and gilt. Somewhat stained in parts. Iron knuckle-bow hilt with languet and spring-loaded folding side bars. The quillons with release lever for the folding mechanism, lock guards broken off. Grip covered with shark skin and wrapped with twisted silver wire, grip strap missing. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with engraved iron mounts, leather cover with craquelures. Length 104 cm.
