Dental implants in a patient with no teeth in the upper jaw. Four implant fixtures have been surgically embedded into a holes drilled in the patient's jawbone. Metal dental parts called abutments are screwed into the implants while the gums heal. In due course these will be replaced by abutments shaped to support a denture.
