A Marterl (wayside shrine) in Durnstein, Lower Austria. The Austrian/south German designation 'Marterl' hearkens back to the Greek 'martyros' (martyr) The Manhartsberg region of Kamptal is one of the most renowned areas in Europe and acknowledged by UNESCO as a “Geopark.”
