Davidson was a zealous worker,but that was not all ; his zeal extended toevery phase of University life and earned forhim the esteem of his fellow students. On 1 September 1914 he obtained a com-mission in the , and served in Eng-land for one year, then crossed to France,where for over two years he saw much of theheaviest fighting and was mentioned in dis-patches, August 1916. He was reported mis-sing at 30 November 1917, andafterwards presumed killed on or about thatdate. By his untimely death a promisingcareer was cut and afterwards held 77 IN MEMORIAM.
