It is most necessary in these cases not to constrict the lumen of thebowel, as the suturing will not standthe pressure of formed fecal matteraccumulating on the proximal side ofthe stricture. In these rectal cases the tear ismost apt to occur during the enuclea-tion of inflammatory masses from thepelvis, and in that event the bowel.
