Heinrich Dove (1803-1879). 1869 engraving of the Prussian physicist and meteorologist Heinrich Wilhelm Dove. During his career Dove published over 300 papers, some of which delved into experimental physics. He also had an important influence over the science of meteorology, and was considered by some to be a pioneer in this field. His primary meteorological focus was in climatology.
