Launched in October 1997,.the probes flew past Venus in April 1998 and June 1999, then past Earth in August 1999. These "gravitational assistance" maneuvers are designed to increase the probes’ speed for their trip to Saturn. They flew past Jupiter in December 200 and reached Saturn in July 2004.
