These surpass anything in theknown world, nearly ten times higher than enormous volume of seething, boiling water rush-es over the precipice on the far side of the narrowgorge and shatters down the rock side in clouds offoam, a sheer drop of 1,200 feet, with a broken, boil-ing cascade for another 500 feet. Glaciers can beseen banking the surrounding precipices and feedingthis great torrent. The Takakkaw Falls are one ofthe most wonderful views in the mountains andought not to be missed by any tourist, especially asthey can be reached by one days ride from Field, andthe great Yoho Canyon and Twin Falls can be reachedin another day. The pony trail here passes directlybelow the ice falls of a series of fine glaciers whichcover the east face of
