Horace Greeley (1811 – 1872) was an American newspaper editor and publisher who was the founder and editor of the New York Tribune, one of the great newspapers of its time. He is known especially for his vigorous articulation of the North's antislavery sentiments during the 1850s. The phrase “Go west, young man!” is credited to him.
