An old engraving depicting the death of General Wolfe at the Battle of Quebec (or the Battle of the Plains of Abraham) just outside Quebec City, Canada on September 13 1759. It is from an American history book of 1895. This battle was a pivotal event in the Seven Years’ War and decided the fate of the French colonies in North America. The battle was fought between the British Army and the French Army and the fighting lasted only fifteen minutes. Although successful in holding the British line against the French and winning the battle, General Wolfe was mortally wounded by several gunshots.
