VINETA floating church on Lake Störmthal, with Lippendorf lignite power plant in the distance. Großpösna, near Leipzig, eastern Germany. The church is anchored at the place where the church of the demolished Magdeborn village used to stand. Residents of Magdeborn were relocated and their houses demolished in the 1970s as the region was exploited for lignite open cast mining. The pit was flooded afterwards, and that created the Störmthal lake.
