Ethylamine. Computer model of a molecule of the organic compound ethylamine (). The atoms (balls) are colour-coded: carbon (green), hydrogen (white) & nitrogen (purple). Tubes join the balls, representing the bonds between the atoms. Amines are organic compounds derived from ammonia and a hydrocarbon group. This is a simple amine with an ethyl hydrocarbon group containing two carbon atoms. Ethylamine, like all simple amines, has a fishy smell. Amines have many uses, including insecticides, dyes, drugs and rust inhibitors.
