SGT. Musler, a photographer with the Signal Corps, captured this image on November 19, 1918, during World War I. The photograph shows members of the 9th Infantry Band, 2nd Division, entertaining Belgian locals. Germaine Van Valkenberg, niece of the Mayor, can be seen donating a large bouquet of flowers and an American flag to the band. Her act of donation appears to be spontaneous.
