Hastings, East Sussex. Along with Bexhill, the town is among 11 places that have put themselves forward to be UK City of Culture 2017. This double decker promenade runs between Warrior Square and Hastings Pier. It was built in the 1930s by Sidney Little borough engineer nicknamed "The Concrete King"
