The crater Copernicus is near the southern (bottom) edge of this amateur telescope photo of the moon. The crater immediately to the right & slightly north of Copernicus is Eratosthenes. The large dark area north of these two craters is the Mare Imbrium, partially obscured by the darkness beyond the terminator. The crater at top centre is Plato, & towards the south-west of it can be seen the great \bay\" of Sinus Iridum, enclosed by the arc of the Jura Mountains."
