You can either take an SUV tour or drive yourself through Monument Valley. The roads are rough in places and are best suited to vehicles with a high ground clearance. However the dirt roads are very dusty. The dust is not only that which you make for yourself but also the dust thrown up by other vehicles, especially the guided tour SUVs. these are, in the main, converted pick-ups and drive around the trails at great speed.
