Ellwancer's death, April 23. is recorded in our obituary columns. Mr. Ellwanger was a member of the well-known firm of Ellwanger & Barry, Rochester, N. Y. Buffalo. E.\STER TRADE GOOD. Easter has come and gone and the ex- pectations of the most sanguine were realized. It seems as if trade never had been better; the quality of stock was good, and equal to all demands. Plants were this year, as last, far ahead of roses or carnations in demand, the lily, of course, being ahead, while azaleas were great sellers. Rhododendrons also sold well. Rose plants, well grown, found ready sale, while dafifodils in pots were not called for. Tulips and hya- cinths sold well; spireas, well grown, were good sellers for medium priced plants. Fancy baskets of growing plants sold well, and are increasing in demand each year. Violets were plentiful, of good quality, and more were sold this year than ever before. Lily of the val- ley was also a good seller. Orchids in limited quantities were handled by two or three of the florists. Only well grown and perfect carnations and roses can be handled now. Ideal weather Thursday and Friday and part of Sat- urday helped trade greatly. Saturday night and Sunday rain came and inter- fered with business, but the rush was over then. Immediately after the Easter trade several weddings helped out busi- ness. W. J. Palmer & Son had two large weddings on Monday and Wednes- day, while S. A. Anderson had a very large one in Tonawanda on Tuesday, two automobile trucks being used to transport his stock there and back. He also had one on Wednesday and a very large funeral in Oil City, Pa., Monday.
