The protests lasted from 2 to 17 October 1990 in the Ukrainian SSR. The core of the protest events was a student hunger strike on October Revolution Square in Kiev (now called Maidan Nezalezhnosti). The protests ended with the signing of a resolution of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR, which guaranteed the fulfilment of the protesters' demands.
