Golden was the predominating color. Golden Spur daffodils, Yellow Prince tulips and Calendula Prince of Orange in several shades, with bows of golden ribbon, gave this coloring. The effect was softened by the pure white of Eas- ter lilies, lilacs and narcissi, and con- trasted by moderate use of violets, baby primroses, scarlet tulips and—may I sayt—mignonette. The flowers were well arranged in baskets, with a strik- ing black and yellow vase in the center, placed on a green velvet cloth. The baskets, white handles and birch bark, were further graced by pussy willows and ivy. Ferns were used in the back- ground. This pretty window was arranged by Frank R. Hastings, personally. Various Notes. The February meeting of the Penn- sylvania Horticultural Society was held in the lecture room of Horticultural hall Monday afternoon, February 19. Prof. Sanders, the economic zoologist of the Pennsylvania department of agriculture, Harrisburg, Pa., spoke on "Control of Insects That Are Injurious to Plant Life.'' Alphonse Pericat, of Collingdale, is flowering some of the beautiful Rainbow freesias that come in the tender shades. Robert F.
