A beautiful class of hardy climbers, many of the va- rieties with flowers from five to seven inches in diameter. Excellent for pillars or trellises, or when used for bedding or running over rock-work or any old tree or stump they make an excellent show. Plant in sunny spot in garden soil dug very deep. We recommend the application of well-rotted manure in holes a few inches away from the plant In opposite directions. The feeding roots reach out to these holes, which may be watered freely, with better success than when the manure is applied directly to the base of the plant. Many failures in the growing of Cle- matis are the result of too shallow planting; the crown of the roots should be set at least 3 inches below the surface of the soil. We have some very nice, strong: three-year-old plants at 50 cents and 75 cents each. We will send one each of the three va-ieties shown above for $, or any four varieties listed below for $1 75 Duchess of Edinburgh—The best of the double pure white, deliciously scented. Henryll—A pure white, large flowering variety, of fine form, and recognized as by far the finest of the single white sorts. It is a much stronger grower than most of the other varieties, and is entirelv hardy. Excellent for cemeteries or wherever a hardy climber is desired. Jackmanii—The flowers, when fully expanded, are from' four to six Inches in diameter; intense violet purple, with a rich velvety appearance, distinctly veined.
