12/1/16. MANCHESTER , England. DOCTORS STRIKE AT THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE NHS Junior doctors protest outside Trafford General Hospital , Manchester today (Tuesday 12/1/16). Trafford General Hospital is known as "The Birthplace of the NHS". It is the first NHS hospital, opened in 1948 by Aneurin Bevan. Junior Doctors are protesting against changes in their contract which they say will endanger patients.
