Fred Burki, of Pittsburgh, Pa., left last week for Portland, Ore. Carl Purdy, at Ukiah, has a fine crop of Darwin tulips, daffodils and other bulbous stock, the supply of which at nearby points is giving out. A good deal of Air. Purdy's stock is being shown here by the Hogan-Koovman Co. The Misses Hannon, at Polk street, say the exposition has so far been a detriment to the house trade, as most San Francisco people are spending as much time as possible out at the grounds. They look for a substantial improvement, however, as the season advances. Lundberg's Flower Shop, on Polk street, did some decorative work in the New York state building at the expo- sition last week. Cleis & Jacobsen, formerly at Fill- more and McAllister streets, have been located on Fillmore, near Haight street, about a year, and feel that they have a much better location than the old one. Navarret Bros., who some time ago sold out the New Rosery, at California and Devisadero streets, to Louis Ghiotto, resumed business about three weeks ago at 1422 Haight street, under the name of the Sunset Floral Co., and are getting nicely started in their new location. The store which they formerly conducted was recently taken over by Mr. Olson. H. E. Hallawell, of the Hallawell Seed Co., says business has been rush- ing this month, making up for the dull times of February. The heaviest run, he says, is on fruit trees and vegetable seeds, though he has a good demand for plants for bedding, flower seeds and bulbs. Mr. Cohen, of Cohen & Figone, in the Ferry building, says business is not all that it should be, as there have been too many street venders for the last six months, and there are too many flowers grown for the probable business, but he believes the exposition will help greatly later on.
